COVID-19: Niger records additional two cases

. Index case now negative

Two more positive cases of the Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) have been recorded in Niger State, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the state to eight.

   The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Muhammad Makusidi, disclosed this while giving update and situational report on the virus in the state.

   He said that one of the new case was the husband of the only woman at the isolation centre from Suleja and a returnee from Kano.

     According to Makusidi, the second new case was also a man already at the quarantine centre from Zumba, and also a returnee from Kano.

He, however, revealed that the Limawa index case is now negative and awaiting second negative test confirmation before being declared cured.

     The commissioner also disclosed that all the Almajiri, including their Mallams, have been confirmed negative and ready for discharge accordingly.

   Meanwhile, two returnees had been received in the hospital’s holding area. One from Lagos and the other from Ibadan; both with relevant symptoms but clinically stable.

   The commissioner said that samples had been taken and the DSNO, state epidemiologist and DSS had been duely notified, adding that appropriate PPEs were adequately available and in use.
