Covid-19: Niger CP orders decongestion of police cells

Niger State Police Command has ordered the immediate decongestion of cells and strict compliance to restriction of movement across the state.

  The state Police Commissioner, Adamu Usman, via the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Wasiu Abiondun said that the decision was part of measures to enforce the sit-at-home restrictions.

The commissioner stated that the order was a preventive measure by the command to ensure safety of all citizens.

According to the statement, “members of the public are hereby advised to abstain from social visit to police stations to avoid contact.

  “The police command will in accordance with the directive of IGP Mohammed Adamu enforce all laws of Niger State on Covid-19 prevention, including restriction of movement.

  “The command has rolled out medical teams to police barracks/ formations and detention facilities for awareness /safety towards containment”.

  The CP then solicited for the cooperation of citizens of the state and enjoined all to obey the rules by medical experts on combating Covid-19.
