The Court of Appeal Abuja division has ordered that the suit filed against the governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki, by the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in 2020 Edo election, Pastor Ize-Iyamu be given speedy hearing.
The suit is before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
Pastor Ize-Iyamu had before the Edo gubernatorial election filed a suit before a Federal High Court claiming that Governor Obaseki was not qualified to contest the September governorship elections in Edo State.
Pastor Ize-Iyamu’s case borders on the discrepancies in Governor Obaseki’s affidavit submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He raised questions regarding the West Africa Senior School Certificate presented by Obaseki to the University of Ibadan as at the year he was granted admission to study Classical Studies.
Ize-Iyamu had after the governorship election said that though the election was marred by wide spread rigging, he is not going to the Tribunal to contest the governorship elections but will continue all the pending cases in the court.
