Court denies bail to activist Olamide charged for ‘cursing’ Seyi Tinubu, Egbetokun after police brutalised her during EndSARS memorial

A judge in Abuja has denied bail to activist Olamide Thomas. She is to stay in custody after she was charged for ‘cursing’ President Tinubu’s son, Seyi and Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
Olamide posted the alleged curse words on her Facebook account after police arrested and brutalised her on October 20 during the fourth memorial of #EndSARS at the Lekki Tollgate. The Tollgate is reportedly being managed by Seyi Tinubu’s son, Seyi. Her reaction was following her bitter experience on that day.
When her lawyer tried to get her released on bail by making a verbal request, Judge Emeka Nwite said no – the lawyer needs to submit a formal written request instead.
Thomas is facing three charges related to cyberbullying. She pleaded not guilty.
The police say she posted a video online where she made three threatening statements:
She reportedly said Seyi Tinubu (the president’s son) would die this year.
She was also accused of making threats against the head of Nigeria’s police force, Kayode Egbetokun and spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi.
