*Says media trial is mark of tyrannical democracy
The National Publicity Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh said Monday that since its establishment, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has never invited him for interrogation about anything.
Simultaneously, Metuh described media trial of suspects presumed innocent till they are proved guilty in court as a mark of tyrannical democracy.
A statement by Metuh’s Special Assistant Richard Ihediwa reads, ”The attention of the Office of the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh has been drawn to a report in the Monday, January 4, 2016 edition of the Nation newspaper, suggesting that the National Publicity Secretary is under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).”
It added that the report is false and that Metuh has never been invited by the anti-graft agency for any reason.
