Conte hails Spur’s resilience despite losing to Roma

Conte also said the encounter was a tough game for his team, adding that they lost the match to a minor detail when a corner kick was taken

Tottenham Hotspur gaffer, Antonio Conte has commended his team’s attitude despite losing 1-0 to Serie A club, Roma over the weekend.

The game marked the conclusion of preseason friendlies for the North London club, as they prepare for the start of the new Premier League (PL) campaign. 

The only goal of the friendly game was scored in the 29th minute by Roma’s Brazilian centre-back, Roger Ibañez.

Following the final whistle, Conte told the Club’s news outlet that the match was a tough encounter and a good test for his team.  

He said, ” Surely it was a very tough game, but I think it was a good game because in a week we start the season.

“It’s good to do this kind of test, a hard test to understand if we want to try to be competitive and try to win every game.”

Conte went on to say they lost because of a mistake during a corner kick, saying they will try to correct such error as they go into the PL season. 

“We lost to Roma because of a minor detail on a corner. We have to pay attention to these situations, we have to take care of these details,” he added. 

Spurs leapfrogged their city rivals, Arsenal to claim the 4th spot in the English league last season, earning the last Champions League spot.
