Cleric teaches women to seek spiritual empowerment

-

Nigerian women, especially Christians, have been called upon to seek spiritual empowerment through intimacy with God and the help of the Holy Spirit in this present day society.

This, they can only achieve if they shun the act of gossiping, backbiting, slander, complaints and complacency; and engage in attitudes of prayer, worship, fellowship, teaching and doing meaningful things that build the future.

Pastor (Mrs.) Faith James, wife of the senior pastor and head of the women unit, speaking during the 2014 Women Congress of Glory Christian Ministries, Lagos, with the theme ‘The Empowered Woman’ said as much as it is good for women to empower themselves with education, business drive, investments and other elevated activities, they should realise that the greatest empowerment a woman should desire is that of the holy spirit, which cannot be compared with the societal or merited empowerment.

“For a woman to be greatly empowered and become an influence and a substance to her environment, she needs to maintain constant intimacy with God,” she said.

She described a woman as a wonderful and awesome masterpiece, created last with eternal description, branding, title, name and beauty; thus making her a master-planner.

According to her, an empowered woman is specially graced by God to do things humanly impossible, with determination to build the future, influence her home and the society through prayers, humility, usage of right words at the right time, speaking the truth always and carrying out relevance activities that will impact her generation.

“As the best director of operations, she serves willingly and obediently in a thankless and timeless job, anytime, every time and anywhere as a teacher, student, watch night, launderer, cook, cleaner, nurse, maid, organiser, mirror, manager, etc,” she added.

She, however, stressed no matter the mistake, offence or sin of any woman, she still deserves to be forgiven, celebrated, appreciated and valued, because she is a ruby and a weaker vessel.

Pastor Faith charged women not to settle for less out of ignorance, fear or impatience, but should realise the potential and authority of God in them to enjoy the full benefits of divine empowerment.

She advised them to make room for God through personal relationship that will not allow or accommodate contrary lifestyle and be spiritually conscious on how they comport themselves, what they are saying or doing, when, where, why and to who, so that they will not be carried away by wrong influence in the present day societal norm of violating the law of God in the name of women liberation and independence.

Her words: “No matter the circumstances, situation or elevation of a woman, there is a hierarchy and the head that must be honoured, recognised and submitted to. God has put it that way and it shall remain so.”

It was not all spiritual talk during the women’s congress, as they also engaged in counselling, talk show on child development, and drama presentation. The event was rounded off with a thanksgiving.
