Clergy urges youths to be agents of Transformation

Rev Andrew Omotosho says youths have been empowered by God to transform society. He urged them to fulfil the role

By Julius Alabi, Akure

The Founder of The Encouragers Ministry, Rev. Andrew Omotoso has advised Youths to fulfil their God-given role of being the Change Agents in their communities and in their nation.

According to him,  if they are committed to playing that role, they will not simply conform to things that cry out for change in their respective communities.

Rev. Andrew Omotoso who gave this advice while speaking on the programmes being put in place for the youth by his ministry further stressed that if they are aware of their true identity, they will know that they are not helpless and that they have power: the power to build not to destroy, power to change not to accept and manage what needs to be changed and can change with their God-given power.

He advised that the youth is able to play their rightful role, only when they are fully aware of their true identity. Once they know and are willing to operate from the position of their true identity, it will be easy for them to live lives of starling and unshakeable integrity.

To rediscover their identity, he said, the youth must reject the identity of the ‘victim’ and resume their identity of the ‘victor’. They must reject the identity of the ‘weak’ and ‘helpless’ and put on the identity of the ‘strong’ and the “Change Agent” for their community.

“In order to prepare the Youth listeners or readers of this program, the following Truths will be expanded in future publications;

“1.     Young people have the ideas, the creativity and great energy to shape a better world. Young people are full of hope and through innovation and imagination, they are problem solvers and have a great potential to generate a positive social change in the world. This is part of your God-given true identity.

“2.     That in folklore and in History, The Youth have always led the way to community and nation change in times of disaster such as we are going through now in Nigeria and elsewhere on the globe.  Queen Moremi was a female youth. Queen Amina was a female youth.

“3.     In the recorded history of the world the following youths refused to succumb to the situation around them crying for change. They boldly took steps that changed their community and their nation for good. (a) Alexander the Great was 18 (b) Joan of Arc was 17 when she turned a whole war around (c) Ida B. Wells fought segregation at 27. Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein exposed the Watergate scandal at 29 and 28

“4.     Jesus  Christ and his 12 disciples were young men. He, their leader died the sacrificial death on the cross at the age of 33. He was most probably older than his disciples

“So you are in a position to change the situation that sends youths to die across the Mediterranean sea or become slaves in Libya or Italy. You are the change agent for this moment. We will show you how as we proceed in this medium. Stay tuned,” he noted

In the meantime, Rev. Andrew Omotoso announced that the Encouragers Ministry is organizing another Singles’ Retreat for the youths themed: “Divine Connection” which would hold on 10th, 11th and 12th   December 2021.

 “We are also advocating improved provisions for youths, especially in the area of technology, for economic growth and development” by re-establishing our Rescue Mission House soon again in Nigeria,” he added.
