Christmas: FG debunks reports on public holidays

The ministry’s statement comes in the wake of reports on Friday by some news outfits that the Federal Government had declared December 26, 27 and January 2, 2023, as public holidays.

The Federal Ministry of Interior has disowned a trending report in the media purportedly credited to the ministry on the announcement of public holidays for the Yuletide.

Spokesman of the ministry, Afonja Ajibola, on Saturday in Abuja said the ministry had not issued any statement on public holidays for Christmas.

Ajibola said that the trending media report was false, as the Federal Government had yet to formally declare such.

The ministry’s statement comes in the wake of reports on Friday by some news outfits that the Federal Government had declared December 26, 27 and January 2, 2023, as public holidays.

The ministry advised members of the public to disregard the trending news and await a formal public announcement on the issue in the next few days.
