The erstwhile Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission who resigned recently, Professor Abubakar Abdulrasheed, has formally handed over the affairs of the National Universities Commission (NUC) to Mr Chris Maiyaki who will be directing the affairs of the Commission in an acting capacity.
The handover ceremony was held today Friday in the auditorium of the Commission, in Abuja
Prof. Abdulrahsheed resigned a few days ago and declared his intention to return to the classroom as a teacher. He said that he would go back to Bayero University Kano where he was seconded to the Commission as its executive secretary.

Abdulrasheed made his resignation known during the approval of the Kogi State University Kabba, in Abuja on Monday. He said his resignation from the Commission would enable him to return to class as his primary assignment.
Rasheed, a Nigerian academic, administrator, and Professor of English, was Vice-Chancellor, of Bayero University Kano between 2010-2015, and assumed office as the executive secretary of the commission in 2016 upon appointment by the last Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.
