Senator Chris Anyanwu has demanded the retraction of allegations made against her by the former governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim.
During his recent media interview, Ohakim, 67, accused Anyanwu of telling lies in her book “Bold Leap”. He also claimed Anyanwu apologised to the late former Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, “and owned up that she told lies in order to sell her magazine” among other allegations.
While Anyanwu has urged Ohakim to bring forward the “lengthy letter of apology,” the ex-governor says he would publish it in his forthcoming book.
However, in a letter obtained by TheNiche and dated January 28, 2025; Anyanwu, through her lawyer Umeh Kalu (SAN), said the allegations made by Ohakim in the media interview have hurt her reputation.

The letter said the allegations “are deliberately calculated to damage (and have indeed damaged) her integrity, image and reputation which she has carefully built up over the years.”
Kalu demanded a retraction of the statements that “do not represent the character of our client.”
“In the circumstance, it is our client’s demand that you publish or cause to be published in two (2) national newspapers, including The Nation Newspaper, a retraction of the offensive statements concerning her, as contained in the media publications of your interview and the press release made at your instance, within seven (7) days, from the date of your receipt of this letter,” the letter read.
It added that legal remedies will follow if the former governor fails to comply with the demands.
