Inter Milan boss Cristian Chivu has attributed his team’s elimination from this season’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) by minnows Bodø/Glimt to a loss of “energy” by his players.
The Romanian tactician made this known on Tuesday night after the Norwegian side secured a surprise 2-1 victory at the San Siro.
With the second-leg play-off win, Bodø/Glimt advanced to the Round of 16 of the tournament with a 5-2 aggregate score, having won the first leg 3-1 in Norway.

Addressing journalists after the upset, Chivu admitted that Inter found it difficult to unlock the visitors’ defence and ended up conceding two goals in the second half.
He also congratulated Bodø/Glimt on their victory and acknowledged that they defended well throughout the encounter.
He said: “We tried to unlock Bodø/Glimt in every way. Assuming we had scored first to make it 1-0, we would’ve put them in a difficult situation. They defended with a tight block, closing the spaces well.
“In the second half of the match, we lost energy and made the mistake that cost us the goal. Then we lost our shape and conceded the second goal. Congratulations to Bodø/Glimt.”
