In an essay, novelist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, left many Nigerians talking on social media, making her the top trend in Nigeria Twitter.

The essay titled: ‘It is Obscene’, was a reflection on the behaviour of people on social media and the dual lives they live, promoting peace on one hand, and encouraging cyber violence on others.

For instance, she says: “And so we have a generation of young people on social media so terrified of having the wrong opinions that they have robbed themselves of the opportunity to think and to learn and to grow.”

She also says: “Sometimes silence makes a lie begin to take on the shimmer of truth.”

She added this: “The assumption of good faith is dead. What matters is not goodness but the appearance of goodness. We are no longer human beings. We are now angels jostling to out-angel one another. “
