The ambassador described terrorism as a global phenomenon which required concerted efforts from international players to tackle.

“By reaching out and accepting such external offer of assistance, the President has demonstrated that he is willing to do everything possible to rescue the girls.

“It is a laudable decision, and it proves critics wrong about the disposition of the President on the ongoing issue,’’ she said.

Akabogu-Chinwuba called on Nigerians to support the President in the fight against terrorism, describing it as “injurious to the development of the nation’’.

“Terrorism does not aid development. As a country, we need a collective will and commitment to fight this monster.

“It is not time for blames, it is time to support those in authority, and it is time to support Nigeria. We need to get over this,’’ she said.

NAN recalls that Jonathan on Tuesday accepted a definite offer from the U.S. government to help in locating and rescuing the abducted schoolgirls.

Presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati, in a statement had said the offer was conveyed to Jonathan by the U.S. Secretary of State, Mr John Kerry, in a telephone conversation on Tuesday.

It would be recalled that the abduction of the schoolgirls has continued to attract local and international demonstration by individuals and groups, demanding increased efforts to ensure their rescue.
