Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has claimed that the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) won Sunday’s FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff final against Nigeria in Morocco unfairly, using “voodoo.”

Chelle leveled the allegation on Sunday night while explaining his frustration with some members of the DR Congo staff during the penalty shoot-out.

Nigeria took an early lead in the fourth minute when Brentford midfielder, Frank Onyeka’s shot was deflected in.

DR Congo, however, equalized in the 32nd minute through Mechak Elia, sending the match to a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.

The Leopards went on to defeat Chelle’s men on penalties, as Calvin Bassey, Moses Simon, and Semi Ajayi all missed their kicks for Nigeria.

With the victory, DR Congo clinched the ticket to represent Africa at the intercontinental playoffs taking place next March in Mexico.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Chelle said, “During all the penalty sessions, the guy from Congo did some voodoo.

“Every time, so this is why I was a little nervous after him.”

When asked what he saw the Congo official doing, the Malian tactician added, “Yeah, something like, I don’t know if it’s water or something like that [he was spraying it up].”
