Nigerian chef, Damilola Adeparusi better known as Chef Dammy has broken her silence on the recent controversy surrounding her just-concluded cooking marathon.

The Ekiti-born chef commenced the 120 hours adventure aimed at breaking the longest cooking marathon by an individual on Friday, June 9 and the Guinness World Record (GWR) has agreed to review her time.

However, the exercise has been plagued by controversy, as some Nigerians have accused her pastor of taking the proceeds from the cook-a-thon.

Responding to the innuendos on Twitter, Dammy cleared the air, saying it was her pastor and members of her church who financed the cookathon.

She went on to say she is like the face of the church and that all she did was cook.

She wrote: “People always criticise the money coming in but they don’t ask about the money that was used to start up the whole program.

“This program was fully funded by my pastor and a few members of the church. I was not involved in anything. The only thing I did in everything was to cook. I was just the face of the church.”

Also addressing the news that the clergyman took the proceeds from the cook-a-thon, Dammy urged people to stop spreading such lies, saying the money she has realised is less than her expenditure and that more than half of the money generated is in her bank account.

“As a matter of fact, all the money that came in for me is not yet up to the money that was used to set up everything. And more than half of the supposed money that came in is still in my personal account. So ongoing rumours about my pastor should please cease.” she added.

Meanwhile, Dammy recently disclosed she will be attempting a new 150-hour cook-a-thon in July.
