Shooting Stars striker Sunday Faleye, scored a late winner to help Nigeria beat Libya 1-0 on Friday night at the Stade Ibn Batouta.
Nigeria secured their first win in the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN), against the 2014 champions in the highly contested encounter.
Coach Yusuf Salisu started the game with the same line-up that played a goalless draw against Rwanda on match day one.
Nigeria began the game on a high, as the Super Eagles dominated possession in the opening twenty minutes of the game. Libya later took control of the game and pegged back the Super Eagles.
The first half saw no real chances, created by both sides.
The second half resumed with both teams anxious to break each other, both coaches introduced more strikers to spark the attack.
Libya came close in the 65th minute, second half substitute Abdelsalam Alaqoub let fly from distance but his attempt went inches wide from goal.
Ibrahim Mustapha and Dayo Ojo came off the bench, and added more quality to the team and helped the Super Eagles dominate posession.
Faleye broke the deadlock and scored the winner in the 80th minute, he was left unmarked and finished off a brilliant cross from the right side.
Stephen Eze was voted ‘Man Of The Match’ for his impressive performance, and for leading a compact back-four that kept a clean sheet against the clinical Libyan attackers.
Nigeria have now garnered four points from two matches, while Libya have three points from Same number of games.
The match an improvement to the first game against Rwanda.
