Nigerian rapper, Sodiq Abubakar Yusuf, better known as CDQ, has explained why he didn’t accept an offer from ace Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke aka Davido to join his record label.
Speaking during a recent interview with the Echo Room, he said both parties couldn’t agree on the terms of the contract.
According to him, after the success recorded by his breakthrough single ‘Indomie’, Davido wanted to sign him to his record label but his (CDQ’s) producer, Masterkraft, opted for a partnership arrangement.

He went on to say the counter offer didn’t sit well with the DMW boss who turned it down.
CDQ said, “Davido reached out to me through Twitter back then that he wanted to sign me. He told me he just made a lot of money from his African tour and wanted to invest it in money and make me the biggest rapper in Africa.
“I told him whatever I’m doing, Masterkraft has to be involved. So, me and Masterkraft went to a meeting with him, and he told him that CDQ is already a movement on the streets and should consider a partnership instead of a recording deal but Davido decline and the deal fell through.”
