CCL: Our target is last four – Enyimba boss

-

Chairman of Enyimba International Football Club, Felix Anyansi-Agwu, has confessed that the team’s target in the ongoing Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League (CCL) is to reach the last four stage of the competition.

Still basking in the euphoria of the team’s 3-0 bashing of Buffles du Borgou FC of Benin Republic in the preliminary round of the competition penultimate Saturday, Anyansi-Agwu added that from there, anything can happen.

He said: “I don’t see our opponents defeating us in the return leg because, before now, we knew next to nothing about them; but with what we have seen of them, I do not see them stopping us from qualifying for next round of the competition.

“I knew it was going to be a difficult match due to the fact that they know much of us while we knew little about them.

“I was very confident we will win by three goals, even when the goals refused to come till the last five minutes when we scored two of the goals.

“We are going to Benin for a win. This is not a team who could threaten us. We shall take the teams as they come, with our target being the last four of the competition and from there anything goes.”

In the same vein, chief coach of the team, Kadiri Ikhana, has assured that the team will progress to the next round of the competition, without underrating their opponents.

Daniel Etor scored the first goal for Enyimba in the eighth minute, while Kingsley Sokari and Peter Onyekachi scored two late goals in the 85th and 90th minutes to seal victory for the ‘Peoples Elephants’.

The return leg comes up today (February 22) in Benin.
