The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, has assured Nigerians, especially the youths, that the apex bank is trying to build an economy where everybody and business can thrive.
He made this known while delivering his keynote address at the 59th annual Bankers Dinner of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, (CIBN), in Lagos, while urging Nigerians not to leave the country.
Speaking at the event, Cardozo said,
“It is not a good idea to japa at this stage. Two reasons. One, those who may decide they are going to do that, they will sell and get rid of their assets.
“You’ll be doing it for cheap. Predators, who are outside looking for bargains, will come and take it and pocket it, put it in their pocket and wait for the turnaround and sell it away.

He went on to say opportunities abound in the market today, adding that from experience over the past year and also for the past six months, a lot of interest is going on in Nigeria.
While acknowledging the severe impact of government’s economic reforms on Nigerians, the apex bank governor said he is focused on tackling challenges of today and securing the opportunities of tomorrow.
He further said the reforms initiated by the President Bola Tinubu-led administration will ultimately help in building an economy where everybody thrives.
