Pundit and former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher has queried Todd Boehly’s decision to replace Thomas Tuchel with Graham Potter after he sacked the Chelsea boss on Sunday.

Potter, who was appointed by the west London outfit on September 8, 2022, on a five-year deal, left the club after seven months in the role, following a horrendous run of results, which saw him win just seven of his 22 Premier League (PL) games in charge.

Boehly replaced former Chelsea owner, Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich and brought in Potter to Stamford Bridge from Premier League team, Brighton, in September.

But after Chelsea’s Premier League 2-0 defeat at home against Aston Villa on Saturday, Boehly decided to fire Potter a day after.

Reacting to the sack, Carragher, who felt the idea to replace Tuchel with Potter was a ridiculous one took to his Twitter page to win a dig at Boehly.

His tweet which came along with two laughing emojis read: “Todd said he would be different to Roman.

“I feel for Graham Potter, but it was inevitable. You don’t change Tuchel for Potter. Ridiculous decision to start with.”

After Potter’s sack, former Brighton defender Bruno Saltor was appointed as interim head coach, with his first game coming at home to Liverpool on Tuesday.

However, Julian Nagelsmann, who was sacked a week ago as Bayern Munich boss, has already emerged as a frontrunner to be Potter’s long-term successor.
