Canada Prime Minister, Mark Carney, has alleged that the United States President, Donald Trump is “trying to break” the country in order to acquire it.

He made this known on Monday, while giving his victory speech after Liberals won the federal election.

TheNiche had earlier reported that the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. (CBC) projected that Carney’s Liberal Party would win the national election strongly influenced by President Donald Trump.

The media outfit, however, added that it was too early to know whether the Liberals would win enough seats to form a majority government, but projected another term for the party, which has governed Canada for almost a decade.

Speaking while giving a speech in Ottawa, Carney claimed he is  ready “for the worst”, while taking aim at Trump.

“As I’ve been warning for months, America wants our land, our water, our resources, our country… never,” he vowed.

The Canadian PM insisted that these were not “idle threats,” adding: “President Trump is trying to break us so that America can own us.

“That will never, ever happen. But we also must recognize the reality that our world has fundamentally changed.”

He, however, said he will meet with Trump amid “a crisis that we did not create” and promised to “win this trade war with America.”

Carney added, “When I sit down with President Trump, it will be to discuss the future economic and strategic relationship between two sovereign nations and it will be with full knowledge that we have many other options to build prosperity for all Canadians.”
