Former Chelsea captain, Gary Cahill, has backed his old team to win the highly anticipated Premier League (EPL) fixture between the Blues and Arsenal on Sunday.
Cahill made his prediction known recently while analysing the game on Sky Bet.
Chelsea will welcome their north London rivals to Stamford Bridge for a showdown between the first and second-placed teams in the top flight of the English league.
Arsenal go into the encounter with just one defeat in 13 league fixtures and a morale-boosting 3-1 win over high-flying Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) group game played on Wednesday.
However, despite Mikel Arteta’s men’s form, Cahill is backing his old team to pick up all three points.
According to the former England defender, Chelsea’s recent 3-0 win over La Liga opponent, Barcelona, in the UCL will give them the ‘sky-high’ confidence needed to tackle the Gunners.
“I don’t think there is anything Chelsea needs to learn from facing Arsenal.
“They’ll be fully aware of how good they are and the strength in depth they have,” Cahill argued.
He added that Enzo Maresca’s men do not fear big teams.
“These are the games that you can’t lose if you want to go on and win a title.”
“I think Chelsea will win 2-1 against Arsenal this weekend. I’ve got to back the boys, and they turn up against the big teams.” he concluded.
