The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that Nigeria midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, will feature for the Super Eagles in Sunday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs final against the Democratic Republic of Congo, contrary to earlier reports suggesting he was ineligible.
This confirmation was shared on Saturday via a message on the Super Eagles’ official X handle.
Ndidi had received a caution in the sixth minute of the Super Eagles’ 4-1 victory over the Panthers of Gabon on Thursday. According to most media outlets, this card would have ruled him out of the CAF playoff final, as it was assumed to be his second booking of the qualifiers.

“Cautions accumulated during the World Cup qualifiers do not carry over into the playoffs; only confirmed suspensions apply.”
