CABS expels 17 students over exam fraud

College of Administrative and Business Studies (CABS),  Potiskum,  Yobe State, has expelled 17 students found cheating during first semester examination.

The Rector of the College,  Alhaji Musa Auta, disclosed this in his office.

He explained that  the expulsion followed recommendation of a five-man committee set up by the Academic Board of the College.

According to him,  the Committee found two cases of impersonation,  15 students caught copying from the exhibit material “10 out of the 17 culprits appeared before the committee and admitted being guilty “.

“Those who feel they are not comfortable with the action are free to go to Court, ” he said.

Auta warned that his administration would no longer tolerate examination malpractice and cheating.

“I took oath to be fair and honest in the discharge of my responsibilities,  even if my wife or son was caught cheating during examination disciplinary action would be taken against him or her. ”

He disclosed that the culprits had made efforts to be brought back to school but the management declined.

“We want to maintain standard in our academic dealings,” he said.

The rector further commended Yobe State government for the support and cooperation which enabled the college to be accredited by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

“Governor Ibrahim Gaidam is doing well in the education sector despite set back brought about by the terrorists during the era of insurgency, ” he said.
