As the Confederation of Africa AthIetics Region 2 Championships rounds off on Wednesday at University of Ghana Sports Stadium Accra, coach Gabriel Okon said it has been a good outing and good training opportunity for Nigerian athletes.

After two days of competition Nigerian athletes won the highest number of gold medals reaffirming their dominance of African athletics.

“There is no doubt our athletes didn’t get the kind of stiff competition we wanted, but they have done well.

“Of course you know for the home based athletes they haven’t had much of competitions this season, so coming here was a plus for them and we can say it is a good training apportunity ahead of the National Championships and the African Championships that follows.
