Ace Afrobeats singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has claimed Nigerians don’t appreciate him enough despite making them proud.

The Grammy-winning Nigerian singer said this in ‘Thanks’, a J.Cole feature from his seventh studio album, ‘I Told Them,’ which was released on Thursday night.

In the new song, Burna Boy noted that instead of Nigerians valuing his musical contributions to the nation, they spread rumours that his mum was one of the dancers of the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti, and insinuated he might be impotent because he doesn’t have a baby mama like a lot of his colleagues.

He also lashed out at Nigerians for inferring that the June 8, 2022, incident where his police escorts allegedly shot at one Ms. Steph Briella, her partner, and her best friend at Club Cubana in Lagos, was an attempt to snatch her from her lover.

Is this the m***ing thanks I get? For making my people proud, every chance I get.”

Meanwhile,  the ‘Last Last’ crooner recently said the late Fela Kuti, may not have reached his full potential if he existed during his era.

He said so during an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in New York, United States, where he claimed most of the people who are celebrating the Afrobeats pioneer today would have called for his arrest if he was still alive.
