Burkina Faso beat the Carthage Eagle of Tunisia to progress into AFCON’s semi-final after Dango Ouattara scored a goal worthy of winning the goal of the tournament

The Stallions scored the only goal of the match in the 48th minute, when 19-year-old Ouattara ran onto Blati Toure’s through ball, held off two defenders, and cut inside before firing it in to give his team a 1-0 lead.

The Teenager turned from a hero to a villain when he was then sent off in the 82nd minute for a silly foul, after hitting Ali Maaloul with an elbow.

The Stallions held on to win the encounter, and will now meet the winner of the quarter-final game between Senegal and Equatorial Guinea on Sunday

However, Burkina Faso will be without Dango Ouattara, who will be suspended for their semi-final encounter after his late dismissal by referee Joshua Bondo.

Minutes before the sending off, Tunisia were denied a penalty as Soumaila Ouattara caught Wahbi Khazri with a high tackle in the box after initially winning the ball.

Burkina Faso have now won all the encounters played against the Carthage Eagles in three AFCON quarter-finals.

Kamou Malo’s side were hanging on at the end after going a man down but Tunisia, who beat Nigeria in the last 16, did not offer sufficient threat, neither did they look like equalising.
