Nigerians say President Muhammadu Buhari has no reason keeping the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.Gen Tukur Buratai, a day longer on the job for projecting that terrorism in Nigeria may continue for another 20 years.
Buratai is the General leading the war against the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists, a group that has been operating unhindered in the country for the last ten years.
The Information Minister, Lai Mohammed, in explaining the killings of more than 40 Borno farmers, continued to insists that the Boko Haram murderers have been defeated and that the terrorists were only putting up cowardly attacks to gain headlines.
But on the verified Facebook page of the Army Chief – the man President Buhari relies on to prosecute the war against the terrorists, Buratai said Nigerians may have to live with the killings at least till 2040.
“There is general misunderstanding of what insurgency and terrorism entail. There is likelihood of terrorism persisting in Nigeria for another 20 years. It only depends on the level of escalation and the appropriate responses by all stakeholders both civil and military authorities,” Buratai said.
The gloomy projection has angered Nigerians who simply ask for his resignation immediately.

@MalachyOdo1 said: “The Chief of Army Staff, Gen Buratai woke up one morning and took a Boko Haram flag to Buhari telling him that the terrorists have been flushed out from Sambisa and roundly defeated. They’re finished, he claimed. That one believed him and posed for the cameras.”
@TopeAkinyode also said: “The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.Gen Tukur Buratai has assured that terrorism may continue in Nigeria for another 20 years up till year 2040. If you still need a reason why the Chief of Army Staff and other service chiefs should be sacked that means you’re a fool.”
@UNCLE_AJALA said: “Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Tukur Buratai went from Boko Haram terrorists have been technically defeated, to terrorism may persist in Nigeria for another 20 years. He has been COAS under Buhari for five years, and he’s still not ashamed of not doing his job. You can’t shame the shameless.”
