Buhari celebrated his 79th birthday far away in Turkey, and was excited as he was treated to a guard of honour display while marking the event

Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has reiterated his desire to go back to farming after the expiration of his tenure in 2023.
Buhari made this known in Turkey, as he celebrates his 79th birthday which coincides with his participation in the Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit, hosted by the Turkish President, Tayyip Recep Erdoğan.
In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu. The president expressed appreciation to The Guard Brigade who performed at the event marking his birthday.

He also expressed his readiness to return to his firm after the expiration of his term as the president of the country.
He, however, added that between now and 2023 when another president will be sworn in, he will continue to perform his duties as required by the constitution.
He said, “I thought that being away from Abuja I will escape these things. The Guards Brigade had written to tell me what they wanted to do on this day. Now here you are doing this far away from home.
“I look forward to the year 2023 when I finish, to go home to take charge of my farm. Between now and that time, I will do the best that is possible to advance the interest of the nation and its people, and carry out my duties as prescribed by the Constitution.”
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila has eulogised the president on his birthday, saying Nigerians are proud of his leadership.
“Mr President, Nigeria, and Nigerians are proud of you. The way you have been steering the ship of the Nigerian state has been commendable.
“I, therefore, join millions of our compatriots to wish you a happy birthday and more years in good health,” Gbajabiamila said.
