Buhari sacks NYSC DG, Mohammed Fadah, after six months

Fadah’s plans for the NYSC at the time of his appointment included “improvement of security and welfare of corps members; enhancement of staff welfare; and improving the gains of NYSC ventures”.

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly removed the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Mohammed Fadah.

The move comes just six months after Fadah was appointed in May.

Fadah took over from Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim as the 19th person to hold the position.

Buhari took the decision to fire the NYSC boss on Thursday, according to The Cable.

NYSC director of press and public relations, Eddy Megwa, who confirmed the development to Leadership on Thursday night did not disclose reasons for the action.

Fadah’s plans for the NYSC at the time of his appointment included “improvement of security and welfare of corps members; enhancement of staff welfare; and improving the gains of NYSC ventures”.

Other areas in his plans were “sustaining the digitisation of the operations of the scheme; and deepening NYSC’s impact on rural development through community development service.”

The NYSC boss was reportedly asked to hand over to the most senior official in the corps.

The official who takes over from him will act as director general pending the announcement of a new appointment.

Fadah hails from Bade Local Government area of Yobe State.

He attended the Kaduna Polytechnic from where he obtained an HND before proceeding to bag a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from the Lagos State University.

He also holds a Master’s Degree in Peace and Strategic Study from the University of Ilorin.
