The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the sum of N1.9 billion for the purchase of two pilotage vessels for Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) operations at the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The approvals which followed a memo by Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, is expected to stop the hiring of vessels by the NPA for its operations.
Addressing journalists, the minister said that the NPA used to hire vessels for the service that would be rendered using its owned vessels.
