Buhari mourns ex-UniAbuja VC, Yaqub, hails his academic prowess

Buhari said the late former VC left an indelible mark on the nation’s intellectual landscape through his works in teaching and research

Former President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday said the contributions of the late former Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Nuhu Yaqub, to Nigeria’s intellectual and academic development will not be forgotten.

He made this known while mourning the late professor via a tribute issued by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu.

Professor Yaqub, who also served as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of Sokoto State University, Sokoto, passed away last Saturday at the age of 74.

Reacting to his demise, Buhari described the late former Vice Chancellor as a “scholar par excellence”.

He also express deep sorrow over the loss of the distinguished academic, highlighting his immense contributions to education, public policy, and national development.

Buhari said, “I have known him for many years as a towering scholar whose knowledge, passion, and insights on public policy were taken very seriously by serious administrators.”

The former president further praised Prof. Yaqub for leaving an indelible mark on the nation’s intellectual landscape through his works in teaching and research.

He went on to say his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

“Professor Yaqub had left an indelible mark on the nation’s intellectual landscape through his works in teaching and research.

“He was a scholar par excellence. May Allah grant him Aljannah.” Buhari further said.
