At least 100,000 twitter followers of President Muhammadu Buhari have unfollowed him because he refused to scrap the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).
The President had insisted that the unit should be reformed rather than scrapped. But the protesters disagreed with his proposal for reform because three pronouncements had been made in the past to reform the outfit, reputed for harassing and extorting young Nigerians, without any success.
The protersters who have been on the streets since October 8, decided that they would unfollow the president on his twitter account to amplify their demand.
In less than 24 hours when the unfollow Buhari campaign started, he has lost 100,000 followers.
He came down from 3.5 million followers on twitter to 3.4 million as at October 10.
