Youth leaders of ethnic nationalities across the country have issued a damning verdict on the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, declaring that it has failed in all the known sectors of Nigeria’s life.
In a statement signed by presidents of Arewa Youth Forum, Shettima Yerima, Ijaw Youth Council worldwide, Pereotubo Oweilaemi, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council worldwide, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Yoruba Youth Council, Eric Oluwole and 50 other organisations, they said the failure of the government has made life a living hell for many Nigerians.
“It is close to three years since the present government was sworn-in. The youths are yet to feel any meaningful change. It has been one challenge after the other, from stinging poverty, to mass joblessness, to pervading insecurity, to painful fuel scarcity, to poor power supply, to a persistent instability in the value of the naira,” the statement said.
The leaders said the government seems to have no clue on how to deal with the fuel scarcity which has persisted without end despite the fact that it increased the pump price by 100 percent.
On unemployment, the statement said instead of the government to create the one million new jobs annually it promised during the campaign, Nigerians are being fired from their jobs on a daily basis due to the harsh economic environment.
The youths resolved that the present government under President Buhari has failed in all ramifications and Nigerians, particularly the youths, must begin to examine other options.
