“Fabio is a very creative player that will bring high quality and versatility to our attacking play. We welcome Fabio and his family to our club and are looking forward to starting work with him ahead of the new season.”

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes speaking to reporters in Portugal, equally echoed Arteta’s sentiments, as he dropped his verdict on his compatriot’s switch to the North London club.

According to him, Viera has a lot of qualities which he demonstrated at the Under 21 level for Portugal and at FC Porto, he also wished him success in the English Premier League

Fernandes said: “I welcome all Portuguese players who go abroad, I hope he can shine to the fullest, except against me.

“Fábio has a lot of quality and has been demonstrating that, whether in the FC Porto is in the Under-21s, he has had good numbers and good performances.

“I hope he succeeds like all the Portuguese out there. We have to start valuing what is ours and I hope that Fábio manages to be as good as possible, despite of wanting to stay ahead.”
