By Ishaya Ibrahim

The deputy governor of Sokoto State, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, has denied dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Dan’iya, in a statement, denied a viral resignation letter purportedly written by him to the Chairman of Kware Ward, Kware Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The Director of Press, Office of the Deputy Governor, Aminu Abubakar, in a statement, dismissed the rumour of his boss’s resignation from the PDP.

Aminu said Dan’iya remains a bonafide member of the PDP in the state as well as a senatorial candidate of the party in the forthcoming general election.

Recall that a letter purportedly written by the deputy governor claimed he resigned from the PDP.

The letter reads: “I write to notify you of withdrawal of my membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with effect from 8th February 2023. I appreciate the opportunities given to me, which made me serve in various capacities under the PDP.”

Dan’iya had made a move to succeed Governor Aminu Tambuwal but the governor rather supported Sa’idu Umar, former Secretary to the State Government, who eventually emerged as the PDP candidate.

Dan’iya was later compensated with the PDP candidate for Sokoto North Senatorial Zone.
