The Port Harcourt Refinery has a combined 250,000 barrels per day capacity but will start by processing 60,000 barrels per day of crude

Nigeria’s owned Port Harcourt Refinery has commenced the production of petroleum products.
This was disclosed on Tuesday by the spokesperson of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Olufemi Soneye.
“Today marks a monumental achievement for Nigeria as the Port Harcourt Refinery officially commences crude oil processing. This groundbreaking milestone signifies a new era of energy independence and economic growth for our nation.
“Hearty congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the NNPC Board, and the exceptional leadership of GCEO Mele Kyari for their unwavering commitment to this transformative project. Together, we are reshaping Nigeria’s energy future!” he said.

The NNPCL spokesperson further said the refinery kicked off with 60 percent capacity.
He also noted that the South-South situated refinery, which has a combined 250,000 barrels per day capacity, will start by processing 60,000 barrels per day of crude.
Soneye went on to say that truck loading will also commence on Tuesday (today), adding that the NNPCL is also “working tirelessly to bring the Warri Refinery back online soon”.
The new development comes after several failed commencement deadlines.
