About 30,000 police personnel had been deployed to the state by the Inspector General of Police, Abubakar Idris.

The governor had tweeted recently that any resident of the state arrested by the police would receive N50,000 as compensation from the state government.

Yesterday, he directed the residents to stay at home ‘to avoid being shot by the police’ as the opposition party in the state, the APC, held its mega rally in Ado Ekiti.
