The Danish husband of singer, Alizee, has been charged to court over her death and that of their daughter.
The Lagos State Police Command decided to charge the Dane to court on two counts of murder.
Lagos police spokesman, Chike Oti, disclosed this on Wednesday.
Zainab, known by her stage name as Alizee, was allegedly murdered alongside their four-year-old daughter, Petra, by Peter Nielson, the husband and father, on April 6, 2018, at their Banana Island home in Lagos.
Before her death, the singer had been scheduled for the ‘Kingmaker Concert,’ a musical event to be headlined by Alterplate Music Company artiste, Harrysong.
A native of Kogi State, Nigeria, she was set to promote her January 2018-released single, ‘Alhaji Musa’, before the alleged murder.
The singer’s record label raised the alarm about the death of Alizee and her daughter which attracted widespread condemnation since the news broke.
According to Oti, the Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, has directed that the case be charged to court based on the findings of the crime scene detectives sent to the apartment of the Nielsens after the alleged murder was committed and the preliminary autopsy report and the result of DNA analysis carried out by forensic experts.
“He would be taken to the Yaba Magistrate Court today 11th April 2018, where the case would be mentioned and his trial for the offence of murder begins.
“Meanwhile, a duplicate copy of the murder case file has been sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.”
