BREAKING: Obi, Tinubu, Atiku, 15 others make INEC presidential list

Obi, Tinubu, Atiku, and others make INEC presidential list released on Tuesday.

Presidential candidates of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, were among the 18 names listed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as contestants for the office of the president in the 2023 elections.

This was contained in a release by the Commission on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. The circular captured the origin, age, and other details of the candidates.

Tinubu as captured in the circular is seventy years old (70). In his qualification, the electoral umpire wrote, BSC in Business Administration.

Tinubu’s running mate, Shettima Kashim is 55 years old and presented Primary school certificate, General certificate of Education, B.Sc Agriculture.

While Obi Peter Gregory of Labour Party, submitted FSLC WASC/GCE Degree and is 61 years old. His running mate Baba Ahmed Yusuf Datti has FSLC GCE PhD and is 53 years old.

Obi, former governor of Anambra state, graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, among other institutions.

The candidate of the PDP, Atiku is 75 and presented GCE, Masters. His running mate Okowa Arthur Ifeanyi is 63 and presented HSC MBBS.

INEC in a publication signed by its national commissioner for information, Festus Okoye, disclosed that the list contained names of candidates validly nominated for national elections at the close of party primaries and the period earmarked for withdrawal and substitution of candidates.

It added that not all the political parties conducted primaries in all the constituencies, submitted the particulars of candidates that emerged from valid primaries or substituted their candidates after fresh primaries within 14 days as provided in Section 33 of the Electoral Act.

With the release of the list of the presidential candidates, the battle line is finally drawn for the commencement of campaigns later in the month.
