Former governors Oyetola, Lalong, Bagudu, Matawalle make Tinubu’s new ministerial list

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted an additional ministerial list to the Senate for screening and confirmation.

President of the Senate, Senator Godwill Akpabio, announced the second batch of Tinubu of ministerial nominees.

Tinubu’s new ministerial list which has 19 names included former governors Gboyega Oyetola (Osun); Simon Lalong (Plateau); Abubakar Bagudu (Kebbi), Bello Matawalle (Zamfara) and Ibrahim Geidam (Yobe).

The former  Speaker,  House  of Representatives and the Chief of  Staff  to  Tinubu,  Femi Gbajiabiamila, had earlier on Wednesday, submitted the list to the Senate.

The list is a completion of the remaining eleven states that have not been allotted a ministerial slot.

To allow Gbajiabiamila to present the list, the Senate invoked its Order 12(i) to allow the former speaker enter the chamber at 3.15pm.

On Thursday last week, Gbajabiamila submitted the much-awaited ministerial list to Akpabio.

But the list had only 28 names. The 1999 Constitution requires that a minister must come from each state.

Among the ministerial nominees read by Akpabio were former governors of Kaduna, Ebonyi, Rivers and Jigawa states – Nasir el-Rufai, Dave Umahi, Nyesom Wike and Abubakar Badaru respectively.

Others on the list were former Lagos Commissioner of Finance, Wale Edun and Tinubu’s current special adviser on Communications and Special Duties, Dele Alake.

Also on the list were Abubakar Momoh, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama, Arch Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, Barr. Hannatu Musawa, Chief Uche Nnaji and Dr Betta Edu.

Dr Doris Aniche Uzoka, Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, Nkiru Onyejeocha, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Hon. Stella Okotete, Hon. Uju Ohaneye and Mr Bello Muhammad were also there.

In the list were also Mr Lateef Fagbemi SAN, Mr Muhammad Idris, Mr Waheed Adebayo Adelabu, Mrs Suleiman Ibrahim, Prof. Ali Pate, Prof. Joseph U, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, Sen John Owan-Enoh and Sen. Sani Abubakar Danladi.
