Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, disclosed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited him for questioning.

He announced receiving the summon from the anti-graft agency on Friday in a post he shared on his official Facebook page.

According to the Kebbi State-born politician, he intends to honour the invitation.

Speaking via his verified handle, Malami wrote, “I would like to inform my family and friends that I have been summoned by the EFCC to provide clarification on certain matters, and as a law-abiding and patriotic citizen, I am determined to honour this invitation without any hesitation.”

He also reiterated his commitment to the principles of honesty, integrity, and accountability, which he said had guided his years in public service.

“I believe in the importance of honesty, integrity and accountability in governance; these are principles that I have long supported and upheld over the years of my public service,” he added.

The former AGF also promised to keep Nigerians abreast of any developments that may arise from the invitation.

Meanwhile, the EFCC is yet to neither confirm his claim nor disclose the specific issues for which he was invited at the time of this report.

Malami recently declared his intention to contest the Kebbi State gubernatorial election on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
