Court sentences Offa bank robbery suspects to death

Justice Haleemah Salman of the Kwara State High Court has found the five suspects involved in the Offa robbery incidents guilty of illegal possession of firearms, armed robbery, and culpable homicide.
The five are Ayoade Akinnibosun, Ibikunle Ogunleye, Adeola Abraham, Salahudeen Azeez and Niyi Ogundiran.

According to the judge, the offences are punishable by death. The incident happened in April, 2018. 17 people including nine policemen and eight civilians were killed in cold blood in the April 5, 2018 Offa bank armed robbery operation.
The names of the police officers and men that were gunned down in the robbery incident were Julius Pelemo (ASP), Yusuf Danjuma (Inspector), Grace Makinde (Inspector) and Oke Kayode (Inspector). Others were Sergeants Mustapha Kolawole, Bilikisu Babawale, Abimbola Adedokun, Yootum Nakoma and Monday Isa.
