Buhari’s orders to security agencies comes on the heels of statement by Governor Charles Soludo’s aide insisting that there was no attack or kidnap of newborn babies anywhere in the State.

Contrary to the position of Anambra state government denying gunmen attack and kidnap of newly born babies, President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered security agents to get to the roots of the saga by ensuring immediate rescue of the kids.
Buhari who gave the order, expressed shock over the reported kidnap of the newborn babies, directing that the rising crime rate in the areas be reduced without any delay.
The reported kidnapping occurred at Stanley Hospital, Nkpologwu in the state. The kidnappers were said to have picked the babies and zoomed off.
But in a strong rebuttal, the Anambra government dismissed the reports as a hoax, insisting that there was no gunmen attack anywhere in the State.

a statement dismissing the allegation of the attacks, the Commissioner for Information, Paul Nwosu said the reports were mere fictions, sponsored through dishonest and unethical reporters to create fear among Ndi Anambra, adding that the Government has ensured there is adequate protection of the people during the Yuletide period.
The Commissioner stated: “There are reports currently flying around the social media by supposedly respectable national media that gunmen attacked a maternity hospital in Anambra State and abducted four (4) new born babies. The report neither stated the name of the hospital nor the identities of the mothers whose babies were abducted.
“The Government of Anambra State wishes to state in very clear terms that the report is NOT TRUE. No such attack took place in Anambra State and no babies were abducted. These are mere fictions, sponsored through dishonest and unethical reporters to create fear among Ndi Anambra, but they will not succeed as Government has ensured there is enough boots on ground to protect our people this Yuletide. Anybody that dares government resolve to ensure a peaceful season will only have himself to blame”.
Notwithstanding, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in a statement by his media aide, Malam Garba Shehu on Friday in Abuja, Buhari expressed his concern about the strange incident, saying this case must be solved immediately.
He, therefore, directed: “Security at hospitals must be foolproof so that attacks of this nature do not happen again”.
