Uzodimma and some top officials of his administration received Buhari and his entourage.

Also at the airport to receive the president were some top security personnel and chieftains of the ruling-All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state and South-East zone.

On arrival, the president inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Buhari was later treated to a cultural performance by the Omenaimo Cultural Troupe from the Imo State Council of Arts and Culture.

The president is expected to inaugurate the reconstructed 35-km Orlu-Owerri dual carriageway and 48-km Owerri-Okigwe dual carriageway as well as the renovated House of Assembly complex, among other projects.

Meanwhile, the President, after inspecting guard of honour mounted by the Armed Forces, boarded a chopper for Orlu to inaugurate the Orlu-Owerri road.

He was accompanied by Governor Uzodimma.

After inaugurating the Owerri-Orlu road, he left the Banana Junction to Amaraku, Isiala Mbano LGA to inaugurate the first phase of Owerri-Okigwe road.

Shortly after, Buhari is expected to commission the House of Assembly complex in Owerri.

Buhari was in Imo State last year to inaugurate some of the governor’s projects.

The president’s visit to the south-east coincides with the hearing of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, before a Court of Appeal in Abuja.

IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful, had over the weekend announced that Tuesday should be observed as a day to sit at home in the south-east to show solidarity with their leader, Kanu.
