Biden was ‘not fit to run’ for president – Trump

Joe Biden was “not fit to run” and “is certainly not fit to serve” as president, his Republican rival Donald Trump said Sunday, after the US leader said he was dropping out of the White House race.

“Crooked Joe Biden was not fit to run for President, and is certainly not fit to serve — And never was! … We will suffer greatly because of his presidency, but we will remedy the damage he has done very quickly. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump posted on his Truth Social network shortly after Biden’s announcement.

Biden announced dropping out of the presidential race after concerns that he was unlikely to beat Republican Nominee, Donald Trump and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for the 2024 election.

“Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year,” Biden said on X.

Withdrawing from the race for the US presidency is an extraordinary decision that plunges the Democratic nomination into uncertainty just months before the November election against Donald Trump, a candidate he has warned is an existential threat to American democracy.

“While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term,” Biden said in a letter announcing his decision.

Though Biden thanked the vice-president, Kamala Harris, in his letter, he did not endorse her as his successor on the ticket. He said he planned to speak to the nation in more detail later this week.

But he took to the X handle to do the needful.
