Controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has described allegation that he bribed officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as false.
On Tuesday, popular influencer, Martins Vincent Otse aka VeryDarkMan, released a voice recording where Bobrisky allegedly claimed he bribed officials of the anti-graft agency with N15m.
In the now-viral voice note, Bobrisky, who bagged a six-month jail term for naira mutilation in April, claimed that the bribe was paid to facilitate the dropping of money laundering charge levelled against him by EFCC.
He further said he never spent a day in prison after he was convicted by the judge, adding that his godfather arranged for him to serve his term in a lodge instead of a jail.
After the voice recording made the rounds on social media, Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede ordered a probe of the allegation.
A statement signed by the commission’s spokesman, Dele Oyewale read, “Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede has ordered immediate investigation of alleged bribery allegations imputed to some officers of the Commission by Idris Okuneye (a.ka.Bobrisky) in a viral video circulating across the country.”
Reacting to the development, the crossdresser described the viral recording as “fake” because he served his term in prison.
In an Instagram post, Bobrisky wrote: “My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid EFCC 15 million naira and that I was never in prison.
“I didn’t pay any EFCC money; it is a very big lie. I served my term in full and I came out. Discard any false information.”
