United States President, Joe Biden has congratulated the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer after he and his party won Thursday’s parliamentary election.
Biden who is up for a rematch against former US President, Donald Trump in November also expressed his readiness to work with the Labour Party (LP) leader.
He made the promise on Friday via his X handle, where he also said he is ready to strengthen the relationship between the US and UK under Starmer.
Speaking on his verified social media page, Biden tweeted, “Congratulations to Prime Minister Keir Starmer on becoming Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
“I look forward to our shared work in support of freedom and democracy around the world, and to further strengthening the special relationship between our two countries.”

Starmer was elected into office on Friday after his party reached the required 326 parliamentary seats.
Addressing a cheering crowd in Central London after his victory, the new PM said: “We did it; change begins now. It feels good; I have to be honest.”
Meanwhile, outgone Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak while reacting to his defeat, took responsibility for the loss of the Conservative Party.
He said: “Britain has delivered a sobering verdict. On this difficult night, I’d like to express my gratitude to the people of Richmond and Northallerton constituency for your continued support.
“The Labour Party has won this general election and I’ve called Sir Keir Starmer to congratulate him on his victory.”
He added, “The British people have delivered a sobering verdict tonight, there is much to learn… and I take responsibility for the loss.”
