“In 1999, while contesting for the governorship of Lagos State, he lied on oath that he attended St. Paul’s School, Aroloya and Government College Ibadan but his credentials were soon challenged by the late legendary lawyer, Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN), even as it had been established that Tinubu had no classmates in primary or secondary school.

“Eager to avoid another embarrassing scrutiny, he has now decided to be silent about his primary and secondary education” – Atiku

“Tinubu seems to have moved from infancy directly to university in the United States” as he has no family history nor record of primary and secondary education in Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has again warned voters about the “stranger” who wants to be President.

Atiku said the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) refuses to make himself available for debates and scrutiny because he is hiding many things.

In his response, Tinubu did not address the core issues raised by Atiku and referred to court judgments which dismissed lawsuits against him on the mere technicality of the cases being “statute-barred” without ruling on the facts.

Longman Business Dictionary says a “statute-barred legal action is one which cannot be brought to trial in a civil court because too much time has passed. [For example] the solicitor had allowed the case to become statute-barred, by failing to serve on time.”

A statute-barred action does not nullify the facts of a case, particularly a moral and ethical one.

‘Bola Tinubu’ not in Tinubu family tree in Lagos

A statement the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesman issued through his spokesman Phrank Shaibu cited Tinubu’s refusal to “open himself up for scrutiny, evading debates, non-partisan town hall meetings and live interviews”.

He said this highlights the Biblical truth that “The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion” (Proverbs 28:1).

The statement titled, “Reveal your real name, background, Atiku campaign dares Tinubu,” alleged the entire life and persona of Tinubu is based on falsehood and thus he cannot address the questions and continues to run all over the place.

“But these controversies did not begin today,” Shaibu insisted.

“In 2007, a former head of the civil service of Lagos State, Abdulrafiu Babatunde Tinubu, one of the eldest members of the Tinubu family, published a book titled, “Onijumu Wura: The Tinubu Dynasty of Kakawa, Lagos (The Tree).

“Abdulrafiu included the names of all members of the Tinubu dynasty from the 19th century till date. Conspicuously missing from the book was the name of Bola Tinubu. The author claimed anyone whose name was not listed in the book was not an authentic member of the Tinubu family.

“Atiku Abubakar’s history has never been in doubt. His father was Garba Abubakar, a Fulani trader and farmer while Atiku’s mother was Aisha Kande.

“Atiku was named after his paternal grandfather Atiku Abdulqadir who hails from Wurno, Sokoto State and migrated to Kojoli village at Jada, Adamawa State.

“His maternal grandfather was Inuwa Dutse who migrated to Jada, Adamawa State from Dutse, Jigawa State.”

What is Tinubu’s full name? Who are his parents?

“Where is Tinubu from? Who are his parents? Who was Tinubu’s father? What was his name? What is Tinubu’s full name? Is it Bolatito, Omobolanle, Abolaji, Bolarinwa?

“While it is not uncommon for leaders to use a short version of their names, most times, for the purpose of stylistic rendition, the full outlay of their names is nonetheless public knowledge,” Shaibu added, per reporting by The PUNCH.

“In the Second Republic, such names as Bisi Onabanjo, Bola Ige, Bisi Akande and many more from the Southwest region are brand names of great political icons.

“But even as it were, everyone knew that the Governor of Ogun State in the Second Republic was known in full as Olabisi Onabanjo, ditto for Ajibola Ige and the rest of such examples.

“However, it is confounding that in the case of the APC presidential candidate, he is simply known as Bola Tinubu. No one knows the prefix or suffix to his ‘Bola.’

Moving from infancy in Nigeria directly to university in US

“Tinubu also seems to have moved from infancy directly to university in the United States of America hence his record as the only presidential candidate in the history of Nigeria not to include his primary and secondary school information on his INEC Form CF001.

“Earlier in 1999, while contesting for the governorship of Lagos State, he lied on oath that he attended St. Paul’s School, Aroloya and Government College Ibadan but his credentials were soon challenged by the late legendary lawyer, Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN), even as it had been established that Tinubu had no classmates in primary or secondary school.

“Eager to avoid another embarrassing scrutiny, he has now decided to be silent about his primary and secondary education.

“Rather than tell the truth, his Campaign Spokesman, Festus Keyamo, shamelessly stated on Arise Television that Tinubu did not attend primary or secondary school and should thus be commended for beating the odds.

‘“They are asking what primary school one must have attended to go to secondary school. We want the younger ones to know that this is a virtue and not a vice. In those days, great men wrote exams from home,”’ Keyamo said.

“This is complete balderdash given the fact that Keyamo had in 2000 sued the Lagos State House of Assembly for clearing Tinubu of school certificate forgery.

“Since the APC continues to insist that they will not present their presidential candidate for media scrutiny, may we, therefore, call on the media handlers of this particular ‘Bola’ Tinubu to avail the country and its people the full outlay of Bola Tinubu’s name.

“The country and its people need to know if the man seeking to become their president is known as Adebola, Ajibola or, perhaps, it’s just simply: Bola(lokan)?

“The nation shall be most grateful if the APC can remove this tiny veil out of the many shades about their presidential candidate that they don’t want the Nigerian people to know about.

“It is often said that you can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.

“Nigerians must not allow a stranger, an anonymous man with no record, to control the destiny of over 200 million people.”

Atiku avoids real issues and is ‘shamelessly back at his game’ of mudslinging, Tinubu ripostes

APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) Media and Publicity Director Bayo Onanuga countered that the Atiku camp is jittery and clout chasing as it is becoming clear Tinubu will win the presidential vote in 2023.

“Our attention has been drawn to a statement by one Phrank Shaibu, an Atiku Abubakar special media assistant, whose specialty appears to be muckraking.

“In another puerile move, Shuaibu challenged our candidate to give his full name and went on a journey of fantasy about his [Tinubu’s] early education and parentage, matters already thrown into the dustbin decades ago,” Onanuga said in a statement.

“We were not surprised that the desperate Atiku camp, faced with mounting setbacks in its campaign, will engage in another round of mudslinging after it failed to make any capital over its amplified allegation of drug dealing against our candidate.

“This latest allegation, we must say is another attempt at shadowboxing. Having failed to pull the wool over the eyes of Nigerians on its 16 years of infamous, criminal sabotage of our fatherland, in which Atiku as the overseer of the privatisation of our national assets programme and shortchanged our people.

“The PDP has just woken up to the reality that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s sure victory in the presidential election of 25 February, 2023 is inevitable hence this desperate resort to character assassination and innuendoes.”

Examine your antecedents, APC tells PDP

Onanugua counselled that if the PDP examines its own record it would realise the same campaign of calumny was its weapon in the Lagos governorship vote in 2003.

He said Tinubu was investigated by the Lagos House of Assembly and the electorate punished the PDP by voting against the party at the time, according to reporting by The PUNCH.

“It is unfortunate that the [PDP] and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, have chosen to revive a dead allegation, knowing that this election is again slipping away.

“Atiku, who once confessed he was the mastermind of the electoral assault by the PDP against the Alliance for Democracy in the 2003 election in the South West, is shamelessly back at his game, showing no contrition that the courts overturned the rigged victories.

“We however sympathise with Atiku and his mudslinging agents. We know why they are lashing at every straw available. They are seized with fear that the election is once again lost.

“With the massive turnout of the Nigerian people to welcome our candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Kaduna, Minna, Abuja and other parts of Nigeria in the last one week, it is obvious that they are running after a train that has left the station.

Atiku running around in circles

“The Constitution of the Republic is obvious on the rights of a citizen to contest for president. Our candidate has fulfilled those conditions. The Independent National Electoral Commission, the impartial umpire, has affirmed that he is qualified to run.

“But the PDP and Atiku are utterly confused and in serious disarray and running round in circles like a barber’s chair looking for what is not lost. A responsible party should have taken the cue from its losses.

“In the last two weeks, no fewer than six cases filed by proxies of the PDP on these same frivolous allegations have been thrown out by the courts.

“Yet like a fly that insists on being buried with the corpse, the media handlers of the PDP prefer to flog a dead horse.

The over 93 million registered voters who will vote in the 2023 elections have the intellect to choose who they want as president. We shall surely meet this party of looters at the polls next February.”
